 Colin Ward获得博士学位后一直从事于科研与教学工作,是国际煤地质学领域的著名科学家。在1975年伊利诺斯州地质调查局休假期间研究了煤中矿物学知识,1984年重返新南威尔士大学(UNSW)并任职,之后对沉积学、矿物学进行了更深层次的研究,后重点发展了x射线衍射作为矿物学评价的定量工具。同时还担任International Journal of Coal Geology编委,并获Ralph J. Gray(2011)Dalway Swaine(2017)。至今Colin编写多本著作,在International Journal of Coal GeologyFuelEnergy等顶级期刊上发表百余篇文章,对煤地质学、煤中矿物研究有着重要的贡献。
